Dear 165Q Families,
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year. We are very excited about the teaching and learning this year . Students will have many opportunities to learn, share, and enjoy being a student. At 165Q , we pride ourselves on educating the whole child. Not only do we have a rigorous curriculum in all content areas, we also have a robust arts department and wonderful enrichment opportunities for all students. This year we will continue the very smart work of supporting all students with intentional conversations about their social emotional well being. Staff members will speak with students daily about their feelings and how to manage those feelings. We will also continue our work on core values of kindness, respect, responsibility, intellectualism, perseverance, and inclusivity.
Parent involvement and engagement are very important to us. We are continuing to be very intentional about ensuring all parents/guardians know your voices are valued and very necessary. We want families to come in, ask questions, visit classrooms on First Fridays every month, meet with me during coffee and conversation , attend school functions, visit our monthly SLT meetings, and attend monthly PTA meetings. You are key stakeholders and we want to hear from you.
PS 165’s theme continues to be: From Many...We Are One , One Mission, One Vision, 165Q. We celebrate the wonderful diversity in our school, as it teaches students how to be productive citizens of the world.
Please visit our website regularly as this is one of our communication tools we use to update families about school events. In addition to updates, our website also has The PS165Q Parent Handbook which details our school’s policies, procedures, and protocols. Also, please make sure we have your correct phone number on file as we often use robo calls to communicate with you. Should you have any questions, comments, concerns, and or compliments please feel free to reach out you your child’s teacher, our Parent Coordinator Mrs. Trina Jacobs-Rivers at TJacobs6@schools.nyc.gov , or a member of the administrative team.
